A New Car!!!

At this year's Fixit Day, aside from having a Dinan Stage II suspension installed, I also had my roof evaluated for it's condition. Joe M. made the call, and it was time for a new roof, under warrantee. It couldn't be done on Fixit Day, and I expected I'd have to return. At the same time, I also decided that when I'd have that done, I'd drop the car off for a couple of extra days, so I could have the bumper cover cleaned up, and repainted, along with the hood.

Here's a copy of the Before Picture:

Those are ALL paint chips. Yuck!

Well, I'm happy to say that they are GONE. I picked up the car today from Daniels' BMW, and it's great!

Here's an after pic:

Yes, there are spots of white, but trust me, those are dust. Man, o Man, what a difference!

I cannot believe that this is the same car! I found out after the fact that the body shop guys also took care of a ding on the passenger side of the hood, caused by the Dinan Strut Brace (either the hood wasn't adjusted right, or it was slammed too hard once). I had forgotten to mention it when I dropped off the car the week before on a Saturday.

Oh YES, and here's the new top! Of course, I can't lower it for a few days, but I don't care!

Hey, remember when you could actually see out the rear without scratches? I know this won't last, but damn, it's good to remember!

Rachel was kind enough to give me a lift out to Daniels, and since it was going to rain, we high-tailed it out of there before my gorgeous paint job got wet.

On the way back, we ran into the beginnings of rush hour traffic (gotta "love" those tractor trailers and rolling hills), we came across an injured bretheren of ours (or is it sisteren?). Rest well, little silver Z3, you will be fine in a jiffy.

Unfortunately, traffic did annoy us - close to home, there was an overturned tractor trailer on the interstate, and we did get stuck for a bit. Fortunately, we kept rollin, and eventually found a way around. No worries, mate. The whole way home I was dying to drop the top, but I knew I couldn't. DRAT.

Fortunately, we made it home, and Saffy is safe in her home (most people call it a garage ;-).

Afterwards, I treated Rachel to Star Wars: Attack of the Clones, but she drove us. The rain did come, but it hadn't really started to pour yet. When Rachel got me home, she dropped top before I was out of the car. We chatted for a moment, and then she sped off into the night for home.
