Trek: Insurrection from the Internet Movie Database
While on assignment studying a primitive culture, Lt. Cmdr. Data malfunctions. The crew of the Enterprise investigate why he's gone crazy, and stumble across a conspiracy between the Federation and another race that involves a primitive culture. Should they intervene, and violate the Prime Directive? What happens next?
What do you think happens next? Prime Directive, Shrime Directive. Captain Picard and crew always find it convenient to ignore it when it's in the way. Any time it was ever mentioned in an episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation, someone broke one of its rules.
What we have here ranks alongside one of the best episodes of the TV show. There were great special effects, too many Star Trek injokes to count, but I don't think it holds up as a great movie. Sure, I enjoyed it, but it wasn't the kind of film that stays with me. Of the three movies involving Star Trek: The Next Generation cast members, I'd rate it as number two, with number one being Star Trek: First Contact.
