2000 Z3 Homecoming

So, Panoramic Photo day. I didn't sleep well, probably because I had too much to drink. I got out of bed later than a lot of people, and got myself presentable rather quickly. On the way over to Homecoming, I saw the opportunity to stop across the highway and snap off a few pictures, including a pseudo-panoramic photo I did all myself. I had pulled over, and put on my flashers. While off taking pictures, Earl saw that I had pulled over, and pulled over himself to offer assistance. I had to wave him off after getting his attention and then pointing to my camera. Thanks, Earl!

Anyway, I do recommend that everyone get their own official copy of the Homecoming Panoramic Photo from Crabtree Photography (from Morgantown, West Virginia). I bought two!

So, I get there, and I end up way in the back (on the right). I wore a blue leopard print shirt which you can barely see, but you can see me. Regardless, the Z3 Homecoming is about cars, but it is also about the people. Here are a couple of familiar faces, and some unfamiliar. Regardless, we're all a big family, aren't we? Last year, one of the Z3ers had a special paint job done to his car. Actually, it's some special paint from DuPont, and it's one of those multicolor paints that looks different from different angles. It is neat, no?

Ok, so we had fun with the photo, and the rain stayed away for most of the day. What a relief! As soon as they took a pair of panoramic photos, I had to leave and head over to the Performance Center for my driving school time. I met up with some people from the Z3 chat room (Doug, Wizzard, and Clayton). This is the interior of Z3 that I thought belonged to Wizzard, but it isn't. Note that it's had a few things done to it, such as installing overlays to have black on white gauges.

The Driving School is pretty fun, and it's broken down to three sections. The first is a cone slalom so you can focus on being consistent. The second is a curvy autocross section where you can put it all together, and the third is the skid pad where you drive one of their 330i sedans through a wet skid pad. It's set up that way so you can see how cool the DSC control system works. Definitely cool.

I also shot some video of Ken (I think!) driving the skid pad. A little silly, but it may give you an idea about the experience (coming soon!)
